FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 15 - 17, 2006 LOS ANGELES, CA – The ninth annual Art Crawl, hosted and sponsored by art galleries in the Los Feliz, Silver Lake, and Echo Park neighborhoods of Los Angeles, returns for a three day stint in the middle of September 2006. Art Crawl 9 will take place on Friday, September 15th, Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th in over 20 galleries. It is a free, self-guided tour promoting access and insight into this dynamic area where the future of art in Los Angeles is taking shape! The Art Crawl revels in all modes of art – painting, photography, graphic design, architecture, furniture, clothing design, sculpture, and the decorative arts as well. On Friday night, September 15th all the galleries will be open from at least 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th galleries will be open from 12:00noon to 6:00pm, unless otherwise noted. All galleries are free to enter and open to the public. In 2003, while still attending Pasadena's Art Center College of Design, Bagayan submitted work for consideration to La Luz de Jesus Gallery's annual juried group show and was accepted immediately. La Luz de Jesus was born in Los Angeles as the brainchild of entrepreneur and art collector Billy Shire. JUXTAPOZ Magazine called Shire "The Peggy Guggenheim of Lowbrow" and the creator of a whole new school of art in Los Angeles. The Observatory was built in 1935 and has undergone major renovations with plans for it to reopen late this year. Bennett created these pieces by an ink transfer of digitally manipulated photos, oil, watercolor paint and other media. There is a mixture of abstraction and representation, nostalgia for the past and anticipation for the future.
