I work by chance and the compass of my own intuition. This project was an unexpected challenge for me. In the push to follow set translations of my card (The Hermit), I found an unconscious pull to veer off topic. The more the push the larger the pull. My final piece is a fusion of established translations of the card, built from the angle of context to symbol, inside-out.
Claudia Drake's prints are Victorian dreamscapes, Jungian travels, & Digital hybrids. Each work is made of 20th century engravings collaged by chance, then digitally cut, painted, & fused into a new whole.
