For Nathan Ota, what started out as a chance reunion with childhood friend and now legendary street artist, RISK, became two years of an intensely productive collaboration. It was a fun diversion, a return to youthful days of graffiti and spray paint; a chance to revisit what once was. But something happened along the wayand it led the artist to an unexpected place. For Ota, even as the characters that have populated his work remain–the birds, the tree man, the eggs–the world that surrounds them has begun to shift. It's a more stark, more stripped-down, more immediate world, signaling the beginning of a new period artistically.
Pop! Goes the Weasel is a return to Nathan's past to begin his future.
