Christian Clayton

"Loved To Give"

June 5 - 28, 1998

Born in 1967, Christian Clayton returns to La Luz de Jesus for his third solo exhibition. A graduate of Art Center College of Design, he has gone on to make a formidable name for himself in illustration, his work appearing in Time Magazine, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, and The Los Angeles Times, to name only a few. Clayton's paintings are the perfect marriage of folk naivete and colorful brilliance, influenced by Howard Finster and the black visionaries of the south. The images he paints are motivated by dark allegorical forces; illusions to fate and death take the viewer on a journey to the ends. Clayton lives in Los Angeles where he teaches and lectures at Art Center, and most recently worked as art director for the latest Oasis video "All Around The World".
