Alan Forbes
"The Medicine Ain't Working"
April 2 - May 2, 1999
|
Born in 1968, Alan Forbes has created a very unique medium to reconceptualize modern culture. The self-taught artist takes found objects and painstakingly crafts them with acrylic and brush, wrapping his vision of American mythology and iconography around each piece. Taking insight from the visuals of Ed Roth, Robert Williams, and Mad Magazine and mixing them with the literary influence of William Burroughs and Rimbaud, he creates mini shrines to a skewed universe. This is Forbes' sixth show at La Luz de Jesus Gallery. Additional views of the pieces available upon request. |
