"Four Man Show"

August 6 - 29, 1999

Collected by Francis Ford Coppola and Warren Beatty on the West Coast all the way to The Library of Congress in Washington D.C. on the east, the art of Michael Hussar is quickly becoming The Next Big Thing in the underground art community. The artist "guesses" his paintings are about two worlds, the real and the unreal, coexisting with blurred boundaries. He sees his paintings as a voyeuristic snap shot of perceived humanity, complete with freaks and fakery; a gothic wonderland illuminating the gray area between truths and lies. Hussar has in fact worked in the fantasy world of the entertainment industry, painting murals for television, film and magazine illustration, which he says nearly swallowed him whole, but now the experiences fuel his work. He currently teaches at Art Center in Pasadena.
