There he attended the Art Institute of Chicago where he graduated, receiving a Bachelor's degree and a teaching certificate as well. He moved to California after graduating to take advantage of the left coast culture and live out his dream of manifest destiny. Douglas currently lives in San Diego over a bar that he manages and creates art as diverse as hallmarks to Swedish death metal bands.
