"Hard Ass Lucky Jack"

July 6 -July 29, 2001

The "Chairman of the Board", Kalynn Campbell is back witha new showing of his "game" inspired art. Present in the Lowbrow art scene since the late eighties, Campbell's paintings have been called "American Hieroglyphics" and "Insightful vignettes reflecting the base soul of Human nature". Mixing '40s style imagery with 60s hot rod aesthetics and using imagery as metaphors for everyday life, his game pieces become strangely familiar - they become games we all have played at some point in our lives. His unique style of art trancends the Gallery as well; current projects have included the cover art (a roulette wheel painting for heavy metal group Megadeth and his own line of "lowbrow" lighters, belt buckles and skateboard wheels. His paintings/prints can also be seen in several books currently on the stands, including "Taboo: Art of the Tiki" and the "Dazed and Confused Annual".
