Glen C. Davies
"Crossroads"

C. Davies' surrealistic banners evoke the lone, sprawling plains and
folksy manner of his home, Urbana, Illinois. Tattered, twisting scarecrows
hang from signposts; rickety water towers are set in front of a swirling,
psychedelic sky; two Midwestern hucksters battle face to face at a the
"crossroads". Each piece is the artist's attempt to make sense of not
just "the world" but primarily the world of his own mind. Davies, who
has worked with sideshow banner artists "Duke" Ash and Fred G Johnson,
has incorporated the banner art style with his own unique vision and
symbolism. Glen C. Davies' first exhibit at La Luz de Jesus is sure
to tantalize and haunt our patrons.
