Craiger, aka Jon Craig, was born in '68 and grew up amidst the surf/skate culture in Manhattan Beach, California. Growing up in a home filled with antiques and collectibles, Craiger learned to appreciate the world of advertising memorabilia. Equipped with a graphic design degree from SDSU it wasn't long before he began creating his own brand of "Bogus Logos" hawking everything from bogus surf movies, skater logos or bogus surf shop tees. Twenty years later, he works full time for a merchandise company but still finds simple pleasure in developing his "Craiger Creations." Craiger's works are made out of cel vinyl and reversed handpainted on multi-layered clear acrylic sheets. Some are enhanced with metallic or glow in the dark paints, glitter, or whatever strikes his fancy. This will be Craiger's first showing ever!
Craiger's medium is a painstaking process; 3-5 layers of reversed hand-painted acrylic plexi are painted separately then placed together (imitating the silkscreening process). Each piece can take up to 3 months to complete. |
