Vicki Berndt is a native of El Centro, California who quickly relocated to San Francisco as soon as she graduated from high school. A self taught artist, she honed her craft in the anything goes environment of the late '70s punk rock days. As the brain behind fanzines Idol Worship and Beano, she forged links with many of the musicians of that era which led to her career as an album cover artist for Red Kross, the Go-Gos, Hole, and Tupac Shakur. As a photographer she has contributed to Spin magazine, BAM, Raygun, and the LA Weekly. Berndt has also collaborated with Victoria Lautman on the well-regarded book, The New Tattoo. Her work is collected by a few celebrities including Mike Meyers, Belinda Carlisle, and Anna Waronker. |
