Albert and Saiman Chow

"Operation Coconut"

January 3 - February 2, 2003

After school, Albert and Saiman Chow would wander around, and in-between, the crowded streets of Hong Kong. They were bombarded, yet fascinated by their packed and clamorous surroundings. Every turn yielded a different picture: the vertical, horizontal, diagonal flashing signs hanging like national flags from each building; the gigantic, hand painted movie posters here and there; the local news stand at which the Chow brothers stopped by everyday to flip through their favorite comics.
That was twelve years ago. Today, the Chow Brothers combine their collection of intangible visual memories, childhood fantasies and western imagery creating a new, global, cultural, art aesthetic. The Chow Brothers are graduates of Art Center, Pasadena and work as freelance illustrators when not planning their numerous art exhibitions.
