Brian O'Connor

"One Thousand Lies"

February 7 - March 3, 2003

New Mexico native Brian O’Connor brings his ethereal paintings once again to La Luz de Jesus. O’Connor’s oil on canvas works present common folk in absurd situations which often mirror the stubborn persistence of beauty and humor in a cynical world. Since he received his BFA from the University of Mexico in 1983, O’Connor has been shown in galleries and museums across the United States and received an NEA Fellowship in 1990. This will be his second show at La Luz de Jesus gallery.

"Art is like sex: an individual can survive without it, but a civilization cannot."
-Brian O'Connor
