Martha Rich
"The Four of July"
July 4 - 27, 2003
|
Originally from Philadelphia, Martha Rich lived the typical, suburban life - until she followed her husband to Los Angeles where, just short of a picket fence and 2.5 children her average American life un-raveled. To cope with divorce and disillusionment, fate lead her to an illustration class taught by the Clayton Brothers who persuaded her to ditch the pantyhose world, quit her HR job at Universal Studios and join the world of art. She is now a recent graduate of Art Center College of Design (with honors). Martha is a Pasadena based illustrator with an obsession for painting undergarments, lobsters, and Loretta Lynn. Clients include: Entertainment Weekly, RCA Records, Village Voice, Bitch Magazine, Readymade magazine, Cosmo Girl, Smart Money, Bust Magazine, Jane, and LA Weekly, to name a few. Her work has been featured in American Illustration 21, Communication Arts, Juxtapoz, Broken Wrist Project #2 and an upcoming issue of Step Inside Design Magazine. |
