Alan
Forbes
"A Four
Man Show"
August 6-29, 2004
Alan
Forbes’ whole career has been spent as one of Rock ‘n’
Roll’s most sought after designers. His first commercial job
was creating the logo for the band, The Black Crowes which led to
a prolific career inking posters for such bands as 311, Queens of
the Stone Age, Electric Frankenstein, and The Phantom Surfers and
working for the alternative music labels, Def American and Sympathy
for the Music Industry. Forbes also created all of the artwork for
Ozzy Osborne’s website. Forbes’ art is deeply influenced by the subcultures of horror flicks and hot rods as well as the literary works of William Burroughs, Rimbaud, and Mad magazine. Although well known for his 3D objects d’art (consisting of cast off pop-statuettes intricately painted with his own psychedelic brushwork), Forbes has branched out to include the more traditional medium of oil paints on canvas or wood. Alan Forbes’ work has been exhibited in galleries in Boston, Los Angeles, London, and France. He most recently was a contributing artist to the American Visionary Art Museum’s exhibition, “High On Life: Transcending Addiction.” A Four Man Show marks Alan Forbes' ninth featured show at La Luz de Jesus. |
