Mark Pilon was born in Northern Canada in 1967. In the late eighties he moved to Canada's west coast. There he attended Emily Carr College of Art & Design to purse his dream as a painter and illustrator. On a suggestion from Seattle artist, Art Chantry, he changed career direction and began working for a local music magazine where he was able to hone his skills as an artist and graphic designer. Influenced by his love of underground comics, space-age record jackets, scooter culture, and Moog music, his latest work reflects a post-pop conviction with an inkling of surrealism. Currently Mark works from his tiny capsule-like studio in Vancouver's Chinatown. When not painting and drawing he can regularly be seen buzzing through cobblestone alleys on his Vespa scooter. |
