"When
She Was Camera"
October 1-26, 2004
| After receiving his BFA in 1993, Joe Sorren immediately became a sought after illustrator for such prestigious publications as The New Yorker, Time magazine, and Rolling Stone and served as an art director at Transworld Snowboarding Magazine. Since his first solo exhibition in 1995, Sorren has exhibited his work in various group shows in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Detroit. Joe Sorren's work is in collections worldwide, including those of David Arquette, Patricia Arquette, and Nike Brand President Mark Parker. In Celebration of Balance and Opposable Thumbs, a book featuring over 140 reproductions of Sorren's work was published in 2003 and has become one of the most sought after art books of its genre. "When She Was Camera," the new exhibition at La Luz de Jesus Gallery will be Joe Sorren's first new show in three years. The theme of his new works will focus on how our memory has been influenced by the camera and other mechanical devices. Enthusiastic collectors are flying in from as far away as Africa to view the work and the gallery has been forced to start a waiting list for collectors eager to preview the show. |
