I grew up in Connecticut, and as a kid I busied myself with catching and drawing
wild animals. I received a BFA in Studio Arts from Syracuse University in 1984, and later
I earned a Master's degree in Art Education, which set in motion 17 years of teaching
art in public schools.
I have a totemic resonance to certain animals and to the human figure. My painting is
shaped by film and the music I listen to, as well as by psychology, philosophy and literature.
I suppose I'm still exorcising my earliest fascinations, especially the conflicting emotions
they embody and the imagery that they suggest. |
