DEMONEATER & ILLUMINATOR STUDIES
Christopher Ulrich's process is incredibly focused, detailed and articulated. This results from a long process of research and visualization through which he commits his ideas and inspirations to large sheets of paper -often three by four feet in diameter. Each finished painting, rich with Christian, Kabbalistic and Alchemical iconography, is the culmination of dozens of these studies, each with their own set of prolific notes; each utilizing multiple illustration and painting techniques. When he has assembled the various concepts on a single sheet, he is ready to move onto his large format canvases, which tend to be 4 by 6 feet or larger.
We are offering these final-stage work studies for the first time to allow new collectors a chance to purchase richly detailed work at bargain prices. We offer these free of gallery commission so that he can make room in his studio for his upcoming Illuminator series, which will debut in August 2010 at Billy Shire Fine Arts.
Several of the studies below offer an early glimpse at the concepts appearing in that show.
Christopher also completed a series of small mixed-media ink drawings.
They are all ink and conte on paper and measure 8.5" x 11".
The art below is offered without gallery commission, making each more affordable for new patrons.
